If you prefer, you can upgrade your Xibo for Tizen player locally using a USB by following the steps below:

Prepare your USB

  • Create a folder at the root directory of your USB device and name it SSSP.
  • Save the Xibo for Tizen player file you downloaded earlier inside the SSSP folder and rename it sssp_dl.
  • Next create a configuration file for the player using a text editor, for example Notepad . Copy the below text into that file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<widget>
	<ver></ver>
	<size>9999999</size>
	<widgetname>sssp_dl</widgetname>
	<webtype>tizen</webtype>
</widget>
  • You will need to enter the version of the player you wish to install between the <ver> and </ver> brackets to complete the configuration file. For example, if you have downloaded the version 2 R201 player, you will need to enter 2.201 between those brackets.
  • Once the configuration file is complete, save it as a sssp_config.xml and copy it to the SSSP folder.

Install the player

Now that you have set up the USB, press the Home button on your remote control and go to the URL Launcher Settings menu.

Choose Install from USB Device to start the upgrade.

You will be prompted to enter the 4 digit pin code for your Samsung device. If you have not set a pin, you will be prompted to enter the default pin set for your device. Please refer to the manual for your device for more information.

Downgrading your Xibo for Tizen Player

Whilst we would always recommend the latest version of the Xibo for Tizen Player, you may find yourself in a situation where you need to revert to a previous release. Below are instructions on how to do that remotely using your CMS and locally using a USB.

Downgrading via the CMS v3

  • Select Player Versions under the Displays section from the CMS main menu.
  • Use the Add Version button and upload the wgt file for the Xibo for Tizenb Player you wish to revert to.
  • Once uploaded, use the row menu for the Player version and select Edit from the drop down menu.
  • Make a note of the value in the Code field for later. Now set that code value to a number higher than the code value for the player version you currently have installed. Save to confirm the change.

Now you can proceed to set this player in the settings for those Displays.

Downgrading via the CMS v2

  • Select Displays from the CMS main menu.
  • Use the row menu for the Display you want to downgrade and select Edit from the drop down menu.
  • From the Profile Settings tab, set the player in the Player Version field and save to confirm.

The next time your Player connects to your CMS, it will download the wgt and downgrade to the version you have chosen.

Once the player has downgraded, you will need to return to the Player Versions menu in your CMS and set the code entry back to its original value.
